The Story
The Ford Cortina is more than just a tale about a best selling motor car. It's a story of a 'classic' still raced today in 'Group N' touring cars, historic rallies, hill climbs and a very popular choice for drag racers. Everyone knows of someone who's had one or has owned one themselves at one time in their life. The Cortina was the best selling car of its class in the early sixties selling over 1 million cars. There was a model for everybody starting with the basic 220, right through to the GT and exotic Lotus. If you're wondering where the Cortina name came from? It got Its name from a village called 'Cortina d' Ampezzo in Italy after the 1956 Italian Winter Olympics.
